Apple has announced a new kind of iPad, the iPad Pro, at its event in San Francisco yesterday. Tim Cook, Apple CEO, while announcing the device said, “Today, we have the biggest news in iPad since the iPad.”

Walking attendees through the attributes of the device, Apple marketing executive Phil Schiller said, “Your TV shows and movies are more cinematic. Your games are more immersive. The new iPad is thin and light enough to hold all day long so it can do things a notebook can’t do.”
The new iPad Pro comes with iOS 9’s multitasking features – Apple says it designed the iOS 9 with the iPad Pro in mind, a massive 12.9-inch screen, full size software keyboard, 5.6 million pixels in the screen, Apple’s third-generation 64-bit A9X chip which doubles the memory bandwidth of the previous A8X and twice the disk performance and double the graphics performance of the previous generation.
Apple also said the new device is faster than 80 percent of portable PCs released in the last 12 months, with a battery that will last 10 hours, four speakers with automatic sound balancing between the right and left depending on how you’re holding it.
There’s also a Smart Keyboard, covered in woven fabric, which also doubles as a ”smart connector”, although its optional and sold separately. There’s also support for Microsoft Office and Excel, users can also take advantage of iOS 9’s multitasking features and use both applications side by side, moving documents from one window to the other. There’s also Adobe Photoshop support and all of these apps are for the iPad only and will arrive in October.
Finally, the new iPad Pro comes with WiFi and optional LTE, 8-mageapixel camera and three finishes. The iPad Pro will cost $799 for the 32GB model, $949 for the 128GB model, and $1,079 for the 128GB model with LTE. The Smart Keyboard will cost you $169, all of which will be available in November. All in all, Apple promises “desktop performance” with the new iPad Pro.
