7 Killed In Students Protest, 58 Missing ...22 Policemen Arrested
No fewer than seven people lost their lives after Mexican Police opened fire on protesting students and a bus full of footballers.
Reports have it that, aside the 7 that were killed, other 17 students were injured while as many as 58 have been missing since the clash with security forces.
The students were protesting against discriminatory hiring practices that favor urban students.
The students seized local buses, prompting a police chase.
Things got worse when gunmen opened fire on a bus carrying footballers, apparently mistaken for one of the buses 'hijacked' by the students.
One of the players, the bus driver, two students and two other people died instantly.
It is unclear if the gunmen were part of the police force, but authorities have arrested 282 officers and detained 22 following the tragedy.
The mayor of Iguala, Jose Luis Abarca, claims that he did not order the shooting..
Meanwhile, the search for the missing students continue.
