The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ife, has announced a date for its 2014 Post UTME screening exercise, even as many away news of the reopening of the institution.
OAU Sets POST UTME Date Despite Shutdown, May Merge Two 100 Levels Sets
A date has been announced for the 2014 Post UTME screening exercise of OAU even as the institution remains shut
August 2nd, 2014 is the selected date according to an announcement published on the institution's website and signed by the Director of the Directorate of Academic, E.O. Afolabi.
"The Post UTME screening exercise will be coming up on Saturday, August 2, 2014," the announcement read.
Heads of Departments/Units of OAU were also requested to "nominate members of your staff to participate in various positions in the conduct of the screening exercise."
Two 100 Levels Sets
A source at the institution, Veekthur (not real name) told Student Pulse that there may be a merger of two 100 level sets, after the tuition fees hike protests left the academic calendar distorted.
"We have two due to the setbacks we experience in our academic calendar as a result of the on going strike caused by school fees increment"
"So it is being rumoured that the 2013/2014 sets who have not even done their matric yet, would be merged together with the coming 2014/2015 sets who wrote JAMB just recently and whose POST UTME exam date was just announced," he said.
OAU Remains Closed
Meanwhile no date has been announced yet for the suspension of the indefinite closure announced on June 19 following a wave of students anti-tuition-hike protests
"We don't have resumption in view now!
It was rumoured that resumption is after Osun election. Probably to prevent our students from being recruited as thugs by political parties in the coming election," our source said.
