The Police has advised the management of schools to be more security conscious following increasing terrorist attacks on academic institution in the country.

With Boko Haram increasingly targeting educational institutions, schools have been urged do more to protect their pupils from the terrorists
An Assistant Superintendent of Police, and Officer-in-Charge of the Women and Children Protection Unit of Lugbe Divisional Police Headquarters, Lydia Bawa, made the call while presenting a paper at the 6th graduation ceremony of Oasis International College in Abuja.
Citing the recent discovery of a bomb laden Honda Odyssey car at the Government Day Secondary School, Tudun Wada in Gombe, Bawa said schools' authorities have to be more pro-active in order to safeguard students' lives.
Bawa urged the installation of security gadgets, metal scanners, and perimeter fencing of schools, with at least 50-100 meters distance from residential areas.
The policewoman also advised people against stepping on strange objects and report any suspicious item to the authorities immediately.
She also cautioned Nigerians’ tendency to rush to bomb scene immediately after the explosions.
In the recent past academic institutions have been targets for terrorist attacks with the latest successful attack happening at Kano School of Health Technology, Kano state. where eight people died and 12 others were injured.
