Anger, Rage... As ‘Reckless’ Driver Kills 3 Primary School Pupils In Lagos
Three pupils were knocked down and killed by a commercial bus driver who veered off his lane to beat traffic in Lagos
Student Pulse learnt that the pupils, two of whom are reportedly siblings, were attempting to cross the road when a driver ran over them.
Reports have it that the driver of the bus was out of his lane when he hit the children, killing one instantly.
The two others died later.
In a reactionary protest, students of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (ACOED), Ijanikin, blocked the highway in protest of what they called the 'reckless' driving of the commercial bus drivers.
Armed with dangerous weapons, the students vandalised several vehicles, setting at least three buses ablaze.
One of the protesters, Lekan Ajayi, who was quoted in a several online reports laid the blame on the drivers' recklessness.
“Their recklessness has caused the lives of so many people on this route.
"The most annoying aspect of it all is that when they knock down someone, they won’t wait to assist the person to the hospital," Ajayi was quoted as saying.
"Rather, they will continue their business as if not happened.”
Though residents and eyewitnesses claim that three students were killed, there has been no official statement on the tragedy.
A police source quoted by several reports claimed that only one pupil died.
