71% fail Nov/DEC WASSCE ...as 30% pass Maths, English

Approximately 71% of the candidates who sat for the Nov/Dec WAEC examinations failed to obtain five credits with Mathematics and English Language.

Only 29.37 per cent of candidates who sat for the November/December 2014 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) obtained credits in five subjects, including Mathematics and English Language.

This is according to figures released by the Head of the Nigeria National Office, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Charles Eguridu.

According to Eguridu, only 29.37% (72,522) of the 246,853 candidates were able to get 5 credits with maths and English.

Going by this result, approximately 71% of the candidates have failed.

This is similar to results of the 2014 May/June WAEC which showed that approximately 70% of the candidates failed to obtain credits in five subjects including English language and Mathematics.
