Student dentists donate clothes, food, others to prison inmates
Students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), have donated some to inmates of the Oko prison in Benin City.
The association, comprising students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), made the donation during a visit to the prisons, Daily Trust reports.
Items donated include toiletries, boxer shorts, sanitary pads and foodstuff among others.
According to School Mission secretary, Harry Ogodo, said it was part of the association's mandate to help the needy.
He told the inmates to look beyond their present situation.
“Being free is a thing of the mind and not necessarily means being out of prison,” he said.
The students also gave dental health talks to the inmates, urging them to maintain high oral and environmental hygiene.
The prison's Director of Welfare Service, J. I Osemwengie, thanked the students for the visit.
