Kila, a Professor of Strategy and Development at Oxford University, United Kingdom, gave the advice during an interview with the National Mirror in Lagos.

According to him, the only way Nigerian can tackle the issues of corruption, unemployment, poverty and criminal activities is to declare a state of emergency urgently.

He argued that it is not possible to have economic growth without developing a sound education sector.

The don, who is also the Director of Studies at the Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS), Lagos, said the nation has failed to tailor the curricula of all levels of education along the economic needs.

“But it is frightening that most times in Nigeria, we go after what type of educational certificates somebody acquired and not what the person can offer before hiring their services and that kind of thing cannot help us grow as a nation,” Kila said.

The Professor advised students to read more, while urging the government to improve funding for the sector.
