Secretary to the State Government, Professor Bashir Garba made this development known in a signed communique. He disclosed that this decision was made due to the fact that education is a dependable key capable of orchestrating good governance and development not only in the state but also in Nigeria in general.

He added that the falling standard of education in the state was largely due to poor foundation at both the primary and secondary levels.

Garba also advocated that calling a state of emergency will enable them tackle all challenges affecting the education sector in the state. It will also aid in pooling resources and implementing experts’ advice on how to overcome the menace.

The communique further advised the state government to key into the activities of the Sokoto State Education Trust Fund, which according to Prof. Garba, has trained no fewer than 30, 000 beneficiaries in various intervention programmes within the past 17 years.
