The president of the Lagos State Chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Yomi Otubela, revealed this during a three-day retreat themed:

He said the move will ensure that all stakeholders do their best to prepare their students well, thereby stemming failure in in external examinations like the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations Council (WAEC) or the National Examination Council (NECO).

“Among the advantages of the unified examination is to ensure that all stakeholders will be on their toes to ensure that their students perform well in the unified examination," he said.

“The teachers will also be aware that the assessment of students at the end of every session is not only their responsibility.”

Otubela said the association will ensure that teachers in private schools cover the curriculums right from the primary school level.

"We are going to ensure that the teachers and the schools cover their curriculum as at when due because in the past, we have had situations where students were tested by their teachers alone until they got to primary six or junior secondary three."

Private school are part of the Nigerian education system, making up for the wide gap between available government schools and the number of students.
