Nigeria's First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has said education is the main focus of the government of her husband, Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement issued days before Buhari was inaugurated to mark the 2015 Children's Day, Aisha noted that education is a top priority the new President and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Education is going to be the main focus of the incoming APC government,” Aisha said.

"Our children are our future and Education of our children is the best way to secure the future of our country.”

She also called on states in the country to implement the Child Rights Act which has seen little application since it was passed by the National Assembly (NASS).
