Industrial revolution can only happen in Nigeria if there is a synergy between tertiary institution and government policies.
No Industrial Revolution Without Varsities, Govt. Collaboration
Nigerian may never experience industrial revolution if the government and varsities fail to partner each other
The Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Dr. Adeseye Ogunlewe said only a mutually beneficial relationship between the researchers in Nigerian universities and government policies, planning and programmes.
Ogunlewe who was speaking at the convocation ceremony of FUNAAB in Abeokuta lamented situation where the universities operate in isolation
"In our country the universities are working with little collaboration with the government policies, programmes and planning.
"A symbiotic relationship must be established between government policies, planning, programmes and linkages with researchers from the Nigerian universities," he said.
He said the collaboration is imperative because the much sought after industrial revolution cannot occur without the involvement of researchers who are in tertiary institutions.
"Federal and state governments must identify their mutually beneficial policy programmes and provide grants for researching into that proposed target in a specific university," he said.
