22-yr-old dupes American of N15m, nabbed bribing EFCC operative with N6.9m
An attempt to bribe EFCC operatives with N6.9 has landed a suspected internet fraudster, Dumi Osayemi, into the arms of the law. He allegedly defrauded an American of N15m.
EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwajaren, said Osayemi was arrested after he allegedly offered N6.9 million bribe to some EFCC operatives who were investigating him.
“A suspected internet fraudster, Dumi Osayemi, a.k.a Larry, is currently ruing his attempt to compromise operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC," Uwajaren said.
"The 22-year-old, who was arrested following a tip-off about his suspicious flamboyant lifestyle, allegedly offered a N6, 900,000.00 bribe to EFCC operatives so he could be let off the hook.”
Osayemi is also alleged to have duped an American lady identified as Stephanie, of $75,000 (N14,928,750.00 in current exchange rates).
He used proceeds from that scam to purchase a tastefully furnished four-bedroom bungalow, a 2011 C350 Mercedes Benz car and a Toyota Venza.
Uwujaren said the properties have all been confiscated and the suspect will be charged to court soon.
