This project is going to cost ₦907 million.

Speaking about what is driving this project, Gov. Ahmed said:

“As we are battling issues relating to food insecurity and unemployment, it is important that we provide cutting edge education to ensure we produce knowledgeable young commercial farmers and professionals, as well as provide all private sectors with required research for innovation and growth”.

This will clearly have a snowball effect on the agriculture sector in the state, from boosting employment and food security, to SMEs.

“Our off-taker demand agricultural scheme and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) have provided farmers with the opportunity to access capital, tools and expertise for their businesses at affordable rates.”

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Abdul rasheed Na’Allah had stuff to say, as you'd expect.

He said admission will not just be open to Nigerians, but also students from neighbouring Benin Republic. This, he believes will strengthen Agro-business ties between the two countries and possibly establish a Nigeria-Benin Agricultural free zone with headquarters in Kwara State.

The Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, Prof. Halidu Abubakar had even more good stuff to say, especially about how this project was finally coming to life since the initial push in 2009.
