Sokoto govt transfers 39 students from Dubai to Abuja to cut costs

39 students studying in Dubai have been transferred to Baze University Abuja to cut down costs.

According to the state Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Sa’idu Umar, the move will save the state N200 million annually, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The commissioner made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting in Sokoto on Friday, October 14.

“The Sokoto State Executive Council on Friday approved the transfer of 39 indigenes sponsored to study in Dubai to Baze University, Abuja.

“The transfer followed the recommendation of the committee set up by the state government to find suitable universities for the students in Nigeria," he said.

Umar said that all the transferred students would be continuing from where they left off at the various varsities in Dubai.
