16-yr-old student robs, rapes 52-yr-old neighbour
Police in Ogun have arrested a 16-year-old secondary school student who claims an evil spirit pushed him to rob and rape his 52-year-old neighbour in her home.
The suspected rapist, Abdulateef, a Senior Secondary School 1 student, is presently being interrogated at the anti-robbery section of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Ogun State Police Command.
According to a Tribune report, the suspect was arrested on the 18th of January at Lambe area of Ajuwon, Ogun State.
Student Pulse gathered that the suspect had allegedly breached his neighbour home at about 1.40a.m.
He raped his 52-year-old neighbour after dispossessing her of N16,500 cash.
Fortunately, the victim recognized her assailant’s voice as that of her neighbour’s teenage son.
She promptly told her civil servant husband who reported to the police and had the suspect arrested.
Confessing to the crime, Abdulateef says he committed the crime under the influence of evil spirits.
"On January 18, 2015, at about 1am., I went to my neighbour’s house to rob and rape," he said.
"I have never carried out robbery before that day. I don’t know made me do it but I believe I was propelled by an evil spirit.”
The suspect said he only decided to rape the woman after he saw her naked body.
"She was naked as she slept and the sight aroused me.
He then told her to cooperate or risk being dealt with by his "other gang members."
"I woke her up and asked her to bring all the money she had.
“She handed over N16,500 to me, after which I ordered to lie on the bed. I climbed her and had sex with her. After about five minutes, I stood up and left for my house”.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident.
He said the suspect will be charged to court.
