ASUU Strike Update-Aggrieved Students Threaten To Disrupt Academic Activities In Private Universities
Watch out now!
The students took to the streets with placards, voicing their dissatisfaction at the Federal Government's refusal to honour its 2009 agreement with ASUU.
They condemned the Federal Government's failure to appropriately finance the education sector as it allocated 8.5per cent of Nigeria's 2013 budget to education in contrast to UNESCO's recommendation of 26 per cent of the country’s total budget.
They also lamented that government officials and prominent Nigerians were not bothered about the crisis in the public universities because their children were in private schools and they threatened to disrupt ongoing academic activities in those institutions should the strike continue.
