Charity of late coach gets N6.4M as donations

Ehiogu died in the early hours of Friday, April 21 after collapsing at , where he was coach of the U-23.

Just days after his death, his wife Gemma Ehiogu set up an account on , asking people to donate to help in funding the charity of the late Ehiogu.

Gemma set up the account to seek funds for the charity that gives every child equal opportunity to access and play football.

“Ugo's dream was to set up a charity that gives every child equal opportunity to access and play football. He had already put the wheels in motion,” the mission statement on the page reads.

“This fund will make his dream become a reality. We don't have a set target every donation will help. Thank you, In memory of Ugo Ehiogu #DoSomethingKind.”

The target of the campaign was N485,000 (£1,000) but it has received remarkable responses and gotten N6.4m (£13,310) with just two days.

The charity had been Ehiogu’s personal project before he died.
