Odemwingie joined Madura United ahead of the start of the 2017 Indonesia Liga 1 season.

In their first game of the season, the 35-year-old scored from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute to double the lead for Madura United.

The former Super Eagles player will be hoping to continue with his goal scoring form when Madura United travel to face Persela on Friday, April 21.

Before moving to Indonesia, Odemwingie said he spoke to Ghanaian great .

"I had no idea what it's like here but I had a brief chat with Michael Essien and he gave me positive feedback," Odemwingie told .

"These are exciting times for Indonesian football and I'm happy to be a part of it,"

Osaze’s new side Madura United finished third in the league last season and are based in Pamekasan, Madura, East Java.

They are second in the Indonesia Liga 1 after just one game.
