After losing their opening Group B game to Italy 12-6, the Super Sand Eagles got a crucial victory which means they also have a chance to progress to the next round.

The Mexicans first took control of the game with Abdiel Villa, Angel Rodriguez and Ramon Maldonado all scoring.

Nigeria, however, responded with goals from Emeka Ogbonna and Azeez Abu and a late penalty from Victor Tale to force the game into regulation time.

In the extra-time period, Abu scored the winner just two seconds from the end to get take two points. (Two points are awarded for extra-time wins).

In other Group B games, Italy beat Iran 5-4 to take control of the group with six points.

Iran are however still second with three points while Nigeria are third with two.

Mexico are bottom with no point.

A win will take them to the next round.
