Pillars who won the NPFL title in three consecutive seasons in 2012 to 2014 are currently 12th in the NPFL table with seven wins in 19 games and nine losses.

“Kadiri Ikhana has been relieved from duties as Technical Adviser by the management of Kano Pillars FC,” they first tweeted on Sunday, April 23.

“To make it clear, Kadiri Ikhana was not sacked, he resigned and the management accepted his resignation,” they later wrote on Monday, April 24.

The club later released a statement to confirm that the 65-year-old stepped down on his own.

“The management of Kano Pillars FC accepted his resignation in good fate and wish him full recovery for the sickness which he said was the reason he quit his job,” media officer of the club, Malikawa Idris Rilwanu said in a statement.

The club has also announced that a new coach will be announced next week.

Ikhana resigned after their 3-1 loss away at Enugu Rangers on Sunday, April 23.

This was Ikhana’s second stint at the Kano Pillars; in his first stint, he led Kano Pillars to their first ever NPFL title in 2008.

Kano Pillars have four league titles in total.
