Hamilton who spent most of his playing days at defunct ECN managed the Super Eagles in 1989.
The 75-year-old died on Thursday, March 30 at the Military Hospital in Yaba.
“My husband is dead oo,” his wife, Durdy told Complete Sports.
In early February, the late Nigerian coach lost his left leg which was amputated at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba.
He bedridden for months due to problems with his legs which came from injuries he sustained during his playing days.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have not reacted to the death.
With the defunct ECN, Hamilton who was popularly known Wonder Boy won the Challenge Cup (now Federation Cup) twice in 1965 and 1970.
He was in charge of Nigeria’s U-23 team before he was appointed coach of the Super Eagles.
He was sacked after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. He also led the Super Falcons to their first Women’s FIFA World Cup in China in 1991.
