Stadium, street to be named after boxing champ in Sagamu

After his Saturday, April 29, victory against Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko, Ogun State is set to honour the boxer.

The majority leader of the State House of Assembly Yinka Mafe has plans to move a motion to rename  Sagamu International Stadium and Cinema Street to  Anthony Joshua Stadium Anthony Joshua Street.

The Cinema Street is largely owned by Joshua’s family with the cinema which the street take its name built by his great grandfather Omo-Oba Daniel Adebambo Joshua in the 1950s.

The Joshua family also owns a host of lands and properties on the street.

"We are proud of what he has achieved as a son of Sagamu, and we will be happy to do our own little bit to show our appreciation and support for him," Mafe told .
