Following Anthony Joshua’s huge win over Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday, April 29, Nigerians are claiming one of their own.

Joshua defeated veteran Ukrainian Klitschko in a world heavyweight title fight epic in front of 90,000 people at Wembley on Saturday, taking victory on an 11th round stoppage.

Nigerian-born boxer wins by knockout 

With that win, Joshua who is Nigerian-born added the WBA title to his IBF.

 

Although born in Watford, the 27-year-old has a Nigerian mother Yeta and a British father of Nigerian and Irish descent.

 

Truly the new WBA and IBF heavyweight champion has always been proud of his Nigerian roots, always talking about his connection to the country.
