IAAF Federation unveils 2017 programmes

As 2016 draws to a close, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has unveiled another packed programme for 2017.

The highlighted 2017 calendar is contained in a statement by IAAF Media and Communications Department on Wednesday.

It said that there would be three IAAF World Athletics Series events — the IAAF World Cross Country Championships Kampala 2017 and the IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2017.

The statement added that there would be the IAAF World U-18 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.

It said that next season would culminate in the IAAF World Championships London 2017 where many athletes would return to the stadium that hosted a memorable Olympic Games in 2012.

The statement noted that the world’s leading athletes would compete in various annual series such as the revamped IAAF Diamond League, the IAAF World Challenge and the IAAF Label Road Races.

It said that the IAAF World Indoor Tour, the IAAF Combined Events Challenge, IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge, IAAF Race Walking Challenge and IAAF Cross Country Permit meetings would be featured.

The statement that an outstanding Rio 2016 Olympic Games was the highlight of a busy competition year for athletics, which also included four IAAF World Athletics Series events.
