On Saturday, 21st of November, Governors and Sultans in Nigeria will be attending the installation of the new Imam in Ekiti.
Governors, Sultans to attend Imam's installation
Governors and Sultans in the country will be storming Ekiti to attend new Imam's installation.
This will reportedly be an historical moment as this is the first time an Ekiti indigene will occupy the pinnacle of Islamic clergy in the eight states.
Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere, who will be taking the seat, is the Chief Imam of Ado-Ekiti and Grand Imam of Ekiti State.
The President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar is expected to preside over the installation billed to begin by 10am at Ekiti Parapo Pavillion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Governors across the country will be witness to the historical event. The Nation reported that governors like Ayo Fayose, Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Adams Oshiomhole (Edo), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara) and Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto) are billed to attend.
Sheikh Kewulere was turbaned and installed as the 6th Chief Imam of Ado-Ekiti on August 3, 1985 and upon creation of Ekiti state in 1996, Muslims in Ekiti appointed him as the Grand Imam of Ekiti State.
