A 71-year-old retired pastor and his wife have been arrested by the Abia state police on Tuesday over allegedly stealing a one year old baby.
Pastor, wife arrested for stealing one-year-old baby
"I have been requesting for the adoption documents from my wife, i am yet to see it."
Abia State Police Commissioner, Mr. Joshak Habila, who paraded the suspects, said the arrests were part of the achievements of his command for the month of August.
According to the 'Vanguard' Joshak stated that about a month ago the 21 year old girl lost her 11months old baby to friend who told her she wanted to help.
He further mentioned that it was when the anti-robbery squad of the command intercepted and arrested the ‘friend’ for allegedly trafficking pregnant girls to Port Harcourt that they discovered that it was the same person who earlier stole a baby in Aba.
He was said to have sold the baby to the pastor’s wife for N500,000.
The Pastor’s wife lied to her husband that she went through the normal process of adoption for the baby.
"I have been requesting for the adoption documents from my wife, I am yet to see it," the Pastor lamented.
