Bishop Okonkwo, while performing the ceremony, said that there was need for churches to go beyond preaching and evangelism, Daily Independent reports.
“By now churches should be looking beyond preaching the gospel by thinking about innovations that will be of benefit to the people.
“Our mission in TREM is not just disseminating the word of God but doing things that will be of need to not only our members but everybody,’’ Okonkwo said.
Reacting, the Chairman of Oke-Oriya Community Development Area, Sesan Oresanya, commended the church for the gesture, urging others to emulate TREM.
Mr. Oresanya said that the project would serve the people of the community who had lived without pipe borne water.
