Rabbi Denise L. Eger, in an interview granted to the huffington post expressed gratitude to her colleagues in the central conference of American rabbis for giving her the opportunity to serve.
First gay president elected as the central conference of American rabbis
Sources say she is the right person to lead the central conference of American rabbis at this time,as the organisation celebrates 25 years of ordaining gay clergy members.
She is the organisation’s third woman leader and first gay president.Her inauguration is slated to take place during an ordination ceremony for gay members.
The influential rabbi Eger, serves as a member of the central conference of american rabbis' board of trustees.She is also a human rights activist with a large followership, some of who enjoy reading her posts on various topics relating to the Jewish faith and interpretations of the torah. She is seen amongst her colleagues as the rabbi’s rabbi.
A source says she is the right person to be at the helm of affairs of the central conference of American rabbis at this time, as the organisation celebrates 25 years of ordaining gay clergy members.Rabbi Egar, 55 has been a supporter of an all inclusive rabbinate.
Our sources say she was instrumental to a resolution of the organisation that states that "the committee urges that all rabbis, regardless of sexual orientation, be accorded the opportunity to fulfill the sacred vocation that they have chosen."
Eger says she will see to it that the human rights of all members of the Jewish community will be protected, and that the organisation will open up to new ways of Jewish assembly.
