Late royalty's grave becomes "part of the ancient landscape over time"

Althorp Estate, where the late Princess is buried, has allowed her site to be covered by greenery.

Sunday, August 30, 2015, marked the 18th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana, who died at age 37 in an accident.

In light of this, concerns have been raised about the state of the late royalty's burial site which is now enveloped in flowers and foliage.

Just last year, a former chef to the Queen and Princess Diana, Darren McGrady, expressed his grievances on Twitter calling the grave "neglected".

He also confronted Princess' brother Charles, 9th Earl Spencer, who owns the estate, where visitors pay up to £18.50 to enter.

"Sad to see Earl Spencer has neglected Princess Diana's resting place #ProveYouDidntWantHerForTheMoney."

A spokesman from Althorp Estate responded saying that natural growth of greenery "intentionally lends privacy to the Princess' final resting place".

They also added that the site "has always had a full growth of mature trees, which give a rich panoply of foliage in the summer."

A spokesman also revealed that the site has been left to become part of nature rather than being scrubbed clean.
