'Amaechi has created new cult group in Rivers,' Gov alleges

Wike said the group was formed with the aim of creating security crisis in the state to frustrate his government.

The Governor stated this on Monday, May 22, while commissioning the Kpopie-Bodo Road in Gokana Local Government Area of the state.

The event was part of the activities to commemorate two years anniversary of the Wike administration.

A statement issued by his media aide, Simeon Nwakaudu, said the new cult is named "New Rivers Cult Group."

Wike also alleged that Amaechi, who is presently serving as the Minister of Transportation, inaugurated the group at a private residence in Woji area of Port Harcourt, Rivers capital.

He said after the inauguration, the minister distributed N500, 000 to members of the group from each of the 23 local government areas.

The Governor also claimed that the group is being coordinated by the duo of Ojukaye Flag Amachree and Oji Ngofa, who he said were mobilized by Amaechi.

According to him, Ojukaye is presently standing trial for murder.

Wike said, "Let me alert Nigerians; I am only informing Nigerians and security agencies of the crime against Rivers State by the immediate past governor.

"We have successfully concluded the state amnesty programme for cultists in the state, but the former governor has set up another cult group."

He said the new group has been armed for the 2019 general elections.

He added that Amaechi promised members of the group maximum security protection.

"I am shouting for the security agencies to hear us. Let heaven hear us. Let nobody allow his son to be used," he said.

"No amount of cult recruitment can intimidate us. I am calling on the security agencies to call the former governor to order."

Wike and Amaechi have been having a running political battle since the former was sworn in as governor on May 29, 2015.
