PDP supporters in Bayelsa hail Governor's victory at Supreme Court

The apex court on Tuesday dismissed the appeal filed by the APC governorship candidate, Timipire Sylva.

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state.

People Democratic Party (PDP) faithful in Bayelsa, on Tuesday, hailed the upholding of the election of Gov Seriake Dickson by the Supreme Court.

The apex court on Tuesday dismissed the appeal filed by the defeated APC candidate Timipire Sylva against the Appeal Court judgment which upheld the election of Dickson as governor

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that scores of PDP  members gathered in different groups at strategic areas in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa capital to celebrate the victory.

A former PDP ward 13 Chairman in Ogbia Local Government Area, Endurance Osain, said the unanimous judgment of the apex court was a confirmation of a divine pronouncement that for once the seat of power in Bayelsa will be occupied for eight years.

The former Chairman, said even if elections were to be conducted a thousand times Dickson would still emerge winner.

He said: “As a party we congratulate our amiable governor and his deputy for the sweet victory which did not come to us as a surprise because we knew that with the facts before their lordships the APC had no case against the PDP.

“What the APC and its candidate did was to waste their time and that of the judiciary. Chief Timipre Sylva knew he could not ‎have won that case,” he said.

‎He also hailed the PDP and  Bayelsans who stood by the Dickson’s government, saying their prayers for this victory was not in vain.

He urged them to always support the administration for Bayelsa to move forward.

Osain, remarked that with all the legal hurdles crossed, the government will now be more focused to continue its mandate of quality service delivery to the people of Bayelsa.

Another party faithful, Mr Isreal Osumo, lauded the Supreme Court for passing “true judgement” without being bias.

He, express satisfaction the way the election judgements have been going starting from Tribunal to the Supreme Court.

Osumo, therefore called on all APC faithful to join hands and move Bayelsa forward.
