50 Senators meet over Senate President’s imminent arrest

Said to be a four hour meeting, the deliberation also had other senators who were not in the country-those on hajj and vacation- giving their suggestions and ideas through telephone.

 

A total of 50 senators that included Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Dino Melaye met on Saturday, September 19, 2015 to deliberate on the predicament of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

The Daily Interest Newspaper reported that the senators who met in Abuja included Senators representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties.

Other Senators spotted at the meeting include Senator Samuel Anyanwu (PDP, Imo East), Senator Binta Garba Masi (APC, Adamawa North), Senator Kabiru Gaya (APC, Kano South), Senator Rafiu Ibrahim (APC, Kwara South), Senator Hamma Misau (APC, Bauchi Central) and Senator Hope Uzodinma (PDP, Imo-West).

Chaired by the Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, the senators agreed to support the anti-graft war of President Buhari, but accused ‘a cabal’ in the Presidency of instigating the government institutions against Senate President Saraki.

At the meeting, the senators also resolved to use all necessary channels to correct the anomaly.

Speaking on the outcome of the emergency meeting, Na’Allah said, “We have resolved to use all available powers under the constitution to ensure that no cabal exists and run the government on behalf of Buhari and we have also resolved to deal decisively with the cabal,” he said.
