This was disclosed by National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) for the South-South Zone, Dr Mustapha Lecky.
“There was so much violence in the area and the police advised that people need to be safe. So, we have to withdraw our people and the materials,” Lecky told journalists on Sunday, December 11.
“These are some of the challenges we faced. But, we are determined and confident that we will conclude the process on Monday and it will not go beyond that day.
“We have made some progress in collating the results of this election and I can confirm that a number of the results have been declared.
“In two of the eight House of Representatives, we have made some declarations, five of the ten state assembly seats have been declared and one of the three senatorial districts has been declared,” he added.
Lecky also said that the commission was still awaiting results from other constituencies.
