Gunmen kill Nigerian Army major, 3 other soldiers

The Major and three other soldiers were reportedly killed on Thursday, March 17, after they ran into an set up by militants.

This is coming 48 hours to the re-run senatorial election in the state

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have however pointed accusing fingers at each in the killing of the major and the soldiers.

In a tweet via its handle @APCNigeria, the party said thugs loyal to the state Governor, Nyesom Wike carried out the gruesome murders.

During rallies led by Wike across the state, he had reportedly threatened that anyone who attempts to rig the rerun polls against PDP candidates will be killed.

It was also reported earlier that gunmen beheaded a 28-year-old man identified as Mr. Ukeom in the state after they invaded the home of chief, Andrew Uchendu, the APC senatorial candidate in the March 19 rerun election.
