Party reveals how N11bn election fund was spent

The party made the disclosure after its workers alleged that N12bn in election funds had been squandered by the National Working Committee (NWC).

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has explained how it spent N11 billion generated by it during the 2015 elections.

The party made the disclosure after its workers alleged that N12bn in election funds had been squandered by the National Working Committee (NWC).

Acting National Chairman, Uche Secondus, however said, while speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, August 6, 2015, that the amount raised was a little over N11 billion.

He said:

“10 percent of the money went to the state chapters, five percent to the zonal chapters and another five percent to local government chapters of the party.”

“Another 15 percent was expended on assignments by various party functionaries and the rest was used to fund our campaigns. We raised money and we used the money for elections. We don’t need to go into details.”

The workers had made the allegation after the party leadership revealed plans to sack some of them and slash the salaries of those remaining by 50 per cent.
