‘I’m a woman of peace’, First Lady says

Mrs. Jonathan stated this in response to allegations of incitement made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against her.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan has said that she is a woman of peace who is in no way connected to electoral violence.

Mrs. Jonathan stated this in response to allegations of incitement made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against her.

The First Lady added that someone in her position as the President of the African First Ladies Mission could not be found promoting violence of any form.

“The only thing we can say from here is that Dame Patience Jonathan is a woman of peace that can never in any way be identified with violence before, during and after elections,” the First Lady told Punch through her media aide, Ayo Adewuyi.

“They are just notifying. The case is not yet in ICC. They are entitled to their opinions and actions. We are not going to be dragged into any argument with them,” Adewuyi said when asked if Mrs. Jonathan would be ready to defend herself before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The APC had threatened to report the First Lady to the ICC after she urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stone members of the opposition party.
