Yemi is boss at the moment, deal with it

Trying to undermine the acting president has been annoying to watch.

And they should be ashamed of themselves for even thinking about it.

President Muhammadu Buhari handed over power to Osinbajo before he left Nigeria on May 7, 2017 in keeping with section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution as amended.

"While I am away", wrote the President, "the Vice President will coordinate the activities of the government".

Since Buhari's departure for his follow-up medical vacation, the northern elders forum, unseen hands and some presidency aides, have been trying so hard to constitute themselves into a nuisance.

It's been totally disgusting to read and watch.

It's silly that northern elders are already appropriating to themselves the role of decision makers as it pertains to the 2019 election.

By declaring that Osinbajo cannot replace Buhari on the ballot in 2019 should the latter become incapacitated on account of his failing health, these elders made themselves look and sound like jokers (which I'm certain they are).

Here's Professor Ango Abdullahi, who is Chairman of the northern elders forum:

“But no one is in a position to know at what point Buhari is going to recover fully and come back to office, or whether the unexpected could happen. The northern elders insist that Osinbajo cannot replace Buhari in 2019.

“If the worst case scenario happens, and Buhari is not back on seat, the constitution is very clear that the vice president takes over.

“And what we then expect is that he will take that tenure to its logical end and from there, the politics of power sharing will take precedence over anything else,” Abdullahi said.

He added that; “When the unexpected happens, in 2019, we will be back to our position that the north should be treated equitably and fairly.

“And we expect that another northern candidate will emerge as presidential candidate on the platform of APC.”

The sheer nerve of these guys!

That we are talking 2019 midway through Buhari's first term, tells you how completely unfortunate we are as a people.

And who arrogated to these so called elders, the power to choose Nigeria's President in 2019?

The own goal scored by Buhari's aides this week, deserves some tongue-lashing as well.

Whether unwittingly or not, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang and Information minister Lai Mohammed, stirred a national debate that could have been avoided if they had read the mood of the nation correctly.

To hear Enang and Mohammed speak this week, Buhari was going to assent to the budget document from his sick bed.

“When I was asked a question relating to the signing of the 2017 Budget, my response was: when it is transmitted to the Presidency, the issue will be addressed", Mohammed said, after suffering a backlash from his earlier comments.

The minister added that; “Anything beyond that response amounts to deliberate mischief and should be ignored".

Ita-Enang also had to defend himself after making it seem like he had questioned Osinbajo's powers to assent to the 2017 budget, a day earlier.

"Let me use this opportunity to clarify an issue. The Acting President has the power to assent to the budget and he will assent to it when the processes are completed", said Ita-Enang.

Let's be clear on this because you asked--there can only be one President in a nation at a given time.

And at this moment, Osinbajo is that man.

There's nothing anyone can do about it.

Osinbajo issued three germane executive orders this week, he's held meetings with ministers, service chiefs and civil servants, he'll inaugurate the two ministers when he's ready and he'll be assenting to the budget when he's ready.

This week, army chief Tukur Buratai warned his men against staging a coup to unseat Osinbajo.

His statement also told us that some politicians have been working with soldiers to explore the possibility of shoving Osinbajo aside.

Whoever these guys are, they need to be reminded that in the 21st century, military rule is an abomination around the world and in Nigeria.

These guys need to be shown where to shove their tomfoolery.

Osinbajo is the boss now until Buhari makes a return.

Everyone has got to deal with that.
