The chosen appointees, if approved by the legislative house, will serve as Special Advisers to the President.
Buhari stated in his letter to Mark that his request was in accordance with Section 151 (1), (2), (3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Presidential media aide, Garba Shehu had earlier urged Nigerians to give the President time to choose staff who would serve in his administration.
