President-elect mandates his security team to obey traffic rules

President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari has directed his security team to ensure they obey traffic rules, noting nobody is above the law.

President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari

The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the security personnel attached to him to ensure they obey traffic rules.

According to a statement released to journalists by Director of Media and Publicity of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, Malam Garba Shehu, Buhari said exemplary leadership is very essential in his adminstration.

It read, "abiding by law would be the guiding philosophy of my administration. Without leadership by example, the ordinary citizens would become copycats of the lawlessness of their leaders.

"The arrogance of power, lawlessness and disregard for the rights and convenience of fellow citizens would have no place in my government.’’

Buhari said if leaders treat the law of the land with levity and contempt, it would send a wrong signal to the citizens, stressing that the law that forbids the citizens from breaking traffic rules also applies to those in position of power.

He advised all military, police and other security personnel attached to him to be in tune with his philosophy of bringing the rule of law in the conduct of leaders during their movements on public roads.
