President criticized by Chibok parents

The Chibok parents also urged the Nigerian government to seek outside help to rescue their daughters, who have now been missing for 262 days.

The parents of the over 200 Chibok Girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in April 2014 have criticized President Goodluck Jonathan for not fulfilling his promise to rescue the girls and also accused the Federal Government of complicity in their children’s abduction.

The parents made their feelings known during a meeting with members of the #BringBackOurGirls group on Thursday, January 1, in Abuja.

The leader of the parents, Mark Enoch said:

“This is intentional, the hand of government is in the kidnapping; we want the government to bring back our girls. If they cannot do it alone, they should seek the assistance of the United Nations and some advanced countries.”

Another parent, Mrs Samuel Abana, urged President Jonathan to fulfill his promise to rescue the girls which he made to the parents in July 2014 at the  Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“I want to remind the President of his promise when he met with us; he promised to rescue our daughters, he said he would bring the girls back, but six months later, there is no result. Mr. President, will you fail to rescue them, if your daughter is abducted? If you can’t do it alone, invite the United Nations to come and rescue our daughters,” she said.

The over 200 girls were kidnapped from their hostel at the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State on April 14, 2014 and most of them have remained in captivity.
