The district was however said to have been compensated with the position of Speaker.
Report said that Oshiomhole had mounted pressure on lawmakers in the state House of Assembly to return the Speakership to the Central despite the fact that the nearly all members threw their weight behind the incumbent, Mrs. Elizabeth Ativie.
The lawmakers have argued that Ativie, by marriage, is from Esan land, therefore it would be unreasonable to give the position to another Esan man.
It was further learnt that Shuaibu's emergence was made possible by the voting strength of Etsako people in Edo North which has three local government Areas - the Edo Central lost the position because they lacked this.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, former Secretary to the Government, Simon Imuekheme, Victor Eboigbe, John Akhigbe, Peter Esele and Prince Joe Okojie were all said to be in the race before the leaders resolved to pick Shuaibu.
