‘Stop disturbing President with foolish complaints,’ Presidency tells PDP

The Presidency made the comments after PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh accused Buhari of shielding members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from his anti-corruption war.

 

The Presidency has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop distracting President Muhammadu Buhari with frivolous complaints.

The Presidency made the comments after PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuhaccused Buhari of shielding membersof the All Progressives Congress (APC) from his anti-corruption war.

In a statement released in response, presidential aide, Garba Shehu stated that Buhari would not protect any corrupt member of his party from prosecution.

The statement reads:

“The Presidency has advised the Peoples Democratic Party to stop distracting President Muhammadu Buhari with frivolous and unfounded allegations of selectivity in the war against corruption.”

“The presidential spokesperson explained that since President Buhari came into office, he has never told the EFCC not to touch any APC governor because they belong to the same party.”

“The senior special assistant challenged Mr. Metuh to produce any evidence or instance when President Buhari interfered in the activities of the EFCC by telling them who to prosecute and who to shield from prosecution.”

“Mr. Shehu advised Mr. Metuh to either come forward with evidence, or apologize to Nigerians for willfully propagating falsehoods in order to gain cheap publicity or public sympathy.”

The PDP had earlier accused Buhari of only going after political opponentsin his war against corruption.
