The President made the comments on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, during a meeting with the United States Deputy Secretary of State, Anthony J. Blinken.
Blinken, speaking on behalf of Obama, expressed his sympathy over the recent spate of terror attacks in Nigeria.
More than 500 people have died in such attacks since Buhari became President on May 29.
The Nigerian President is set to visit Obama in Washington on July 20.
