‘I don’t have a northern agenda’ President reacts to outrage over appointments

Buhari has appointed 11 officials so far, 10 from northern Nigeria and one from the South-West, leading some to accuse him of favouritism.

President Muhammadu Buhari has denied having a northern agenda after his recent appointments led to widespread outrage and criticism.

However, presidential media aide, Femi Adesina, dismissed the assumption while speaking to Vanguard on Sunday, July 5, 2015.

Adesina said:

“The president received a national mandate and was going to pursue it as such. The president does not have a northern agenda. He has a national agenda. He got a national mandate and that is the way he is going to exercise that mandate. I have already said it and I still maintain that.”
