Assembly crisis not affecting President’s ministerial list - Shehu

President Muhammadu Buhari

The Presidency has said that the ongoing crisis in the National Assembly will not in any way affect President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial list.

This was disclosed on Thursday, June 25, 2015, by Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, during Channel TV’s Sunrise Daily.

Shehu explained that the President was simply taking his time to nominate ministers to avoid having to sack anyone.

“Do you want a situation where the president will appoint a minister and then fire the minister in few months time?,” Shehu asked.

The presidential aide also added that Buhari had offered his guidance on how the national assembly crisis can be resolved.

“As a leader, the President has given guidance… His own position is that if the eye troubles you, whatever medicine you’re going to apply, don’t put a pin. The President is not unconcerned,” Shehu said.

The National Assembly has been in disarray over some of its principal positions, a situation which is largely due to disagreements within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on who to occupy the posts.
