INEC Chairman to be replaced by Governor Mimiko’s brother?

Rumours have it that Jega will be proceeding on his three months terminal leave with effect from March 1, 2015 in compliance with the civil service procedure and will be replaced by Professor Nazim Olufemi Mimiko.

According to unconfirmed reports, a replacement has already been found for the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega.

Rumours have it that Jega will be proceeding on his three months terminal leave with effect from March 1, 2015 in compliance with the civil service procedure and will be replaced by Professor Nazim Olufemi Mimiko.

Mimiko is a professor of Political Science and International Relations and  the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State.

Governor Mimiko is President Goodluck Jonathan’s South-West campaign coordinator and is also said to be a sibling of the current Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko.

Vanguard, in reporting that the Presidency is shopping for Jega’s replacement stated that the government is “considering bringing in another academic from the South-West… a professor of Political Science and International Relations who is said to be a sibling of a serving governor in the South-West, who is a close ally of President Goodluck Jonathan and his party.”

The reports of Professor Mimiko’s appointment have gone rife in the media but have not been confirmed by the necessary authorities.
