PDP says Buhari should withdraw from Presidential race

The PDP, through its Presidential Campaign Organization also accused Buhari of perjury adding that he lied on oath while swearing an affidavit regarding his academic credentials.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari should withdraw from the race for the Presidency.

The PDP, through its Presidential Campaign Organization, also accused Buhari of perjury adding that he lied on oath while swearing an affidavit regarding his academic credentials.

The statements were made on Wednesday, January 21, by the organization’s Director of Media and Publicity, Femi Fani-Kayode during a press conference in Abuja.

“The implication of the action of this so-called “Mr Clean” is nothing but perjury and we all know that this is grave criminal offence under our laws and constitution. We urge Buhari to do the right thing and tender an unreserved apology to the Nigerian people, throw in the towel and report to the nearest police station for interrogation and prosecution,” Fani-Kayode said.

Fani-Kayode also added that Buhari should never have reached the position of Major General, which he attained before retiring from the army. He also advised that the former Head of State be stripped of his rank and privileges.

“At best Buhari should never have been anything more than a non-commissioned officer,” he said.

The former Minister of Aviation also spoke on the recent attack on President Goodluck Jonathan’s convoy in Katsina, Buhari’s home state saying that any further attack would be blamed on the APC candidate.
