This was revealed on Saturday, February 1, by the National Secretary of the group, Cairo Ojougboh in Abuja.
Ojougboh told journalists that the NUG has been having meetings with the parties in question to convince them to throw their weight behind Jonathan.
He however did not mention the specific candidates or parties involved in the talks but said consultations would continue on Sunday, February 1.
“We are counting on all Nigerians, northerners especially, that they should not be intimidated, they should go out and vote massively for Mr President,” Ojougboh said.
“For this country to remain united and for the progress we are experiencing now to continue, there is the need for all to cooperate with Mr President and vote massively for the PDP,” he added.
14 Presidential candidates have so far been registered for the upcoming polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
