15 Dead As Bus Plunges Into River In Sokoto

The deceased were coming from Takakume, a village near Rima when their bus plunged into the Rima River.

At least 15 persons have died after a bus plunged in to Rima River at the Goronyo Local Government of Sokoto State on the morning of Friday, November 7.

The deceased according to Sokoto State Police Spokesman, Al-Mustapha Sani were travelling back to their hometown, Dan-Wawaru, from Takakume, a village near Rima when they met their doom.

Al-Mustapha Sani, told NAN that the travellers had gone to the village to attend a ceremony adding that the vehicle was carrying 17 persons at the time of the accident and only two survived.

Mr. Sani also revealed that police are still trying to establish the cause of the accident.

The deceased have since been buried by their respective families according to Islamic rites.
